Job Description
The Legal Aid Society's Financial Analysis team has an opening for a Senior Financial Analyst. The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for the budgeting, forecasting, and analysis functions of the organization. The Senior Financial Analyst reviews and prepares materials in support of the team, takes a leadership role in meetings, and mentors junior members of the team. The Senior Financial Analyst must be able to present financial results in a concise and clear manner with tact and diplomacy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
* Review/prepare monthly financial reports for three practice areas, eleven administrative departments and other supportive documentation
* Analyze monthly financial results and variances, identify trends, and report results in a clear and concise fashion
* Assure that any corrections to monthly revenue and expense entries are identified and processed in a timely manner
* Review/prepare Monthly Occupancy Allocations
* Review/prepare Quarterly Library Occupations
* Review/prepare and analyze monthly hiring, termination, and leave data
* Support the Director of Financial Analysis in leading monthly departmental expense review meetings, weekly staffing meetings, and monthly senior admin review meetings
* Review/Prepare the annual LAS budget
* Review/Prepare ongoing LAS forecasts
* Design, review, and maintain spreadsheets in support of the LAS budget and forecast, including:
• * Staffing Spreadsheet
• * Revenue Spreadsheet
• * Occupancy Spreadsheet
• * Fringe Benefits Spreadsheet
• * Expenses other than Personnel and Occupancy Spreadsheet
* Identify opportunities to streamline the budgeting and forecasting functions by embracing new technologies
* Review/track, report, and analyze KPIs
* Review/prepare cash flow projections and maintain the cash revenue forecast
* Review/track caseloads in all Practices and monitor contract compliance
* Review/analyze A/R relating to contracts and grants monthly; review accuracy, identify variances and trends, and report results in a clear and concise manner
* Review and modify relevant policies and procedures, when necessary
* Develop, maintain and distribute ad-hoc reports and financial models as needed
* Continually evaluate all reports, spreadsheets and tools for modification to make them less time-consuming to produce and more user-friendly to the end audience
* Acquire, manage, manipulate, and analyze large amounts of data from multiple sources utilizing Excel, other Microsoft Office Suite tools, and other software as needed
* Strong emphasis on frequent and critical special projects
* Provide strong technical and analytical support to the Financial Analyst and Junior Financial Analyst positions
* Identify opportunities to increase productivity by automating processes
* Create, change, and modify Financial Edge reporting
* Other duties as assigned

Requirements
* BS in Finance, Accounting, or a related technical field preferred; MBA desirable
* 5-8 years of relevant work experience
* Ability to work independently
* Extremely organized with the ability to respond to internal and external customer requests
* Must be able to meet deadlines
* Advanced Excel skills
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Ability to work well in a team environment
* Sense of professionalism and confidentiality, and a strong work ethic
* Strong analytical mind
