Quantitative Audit Manager, Capital Markets Audit

Why join BMO as an Audit Manager?
This is an ideal role for quantitative finance professionals who aspire to a career in model risk, without limiting themselves to a specific model area. The role will offer an ideal blend of higher learning and real world practice, exposing you to some of the latest technologies and best practice approaches to internal Audit, and developing risk frameworks. It offers an opportunity to understand the different business areas and models used within a large financial institution, while continuously developing analytical skills and building a knowledge base in quantitative analytics and risk modelling.

Role Description
BMO's Corporate Audit Department helps protect against the risk of loss and reputational damage, and provides vital assurance to the Board of Directors and senior management as to the quality and effectiveness of the internal control system. The Quantitative Audit Manager will work with a Director or Senior Audit Manager on executing elements of audits across different teams, with a focus on modelling, quantitative analysis, and audit execution activities.

What will a typical day look like?
Every day will be different! An ideal role for someone who loves quantitative modelling, you will be asked to take on a number of activities that will include supporting team members through:
  • Understanding models used by various businesses;
  • Presenting these models and any potential weaknesses/findings to other team and bank members, thus assisting senior managers in determining the Bank's risk strategy;
  • Ensuring all model documentation is compliant with Corporate policies, standards and guidelines;
  • Working with the team to evaluate the strength of the business risk framework.

Our expectation is that you'll come to the job every day with a can-do attitude and a commitment to:
  • Continually demonstrating a desire to learn new tools and business processes;
  • Demonstrating your ability to investigate and solve problems creatively and innovatively;
  • Collaborating effectively with fellow team members and project stakeholders;
  • Proactively managing individual tasks and work assignments.

Qualifications
  • At least Masters degree in Quantitative Finance or related areas;
  • At least 2 years experience with quantitative analysis, research and/or statistical modelling;
  • Demonstrated analytical ability and aptitude for logical and critical thinking;
  • Excellent written and communication skills;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Excellent computer and Excel skills; advanced knowledge of programming languages is useful for some roles.
