EY Global Delivery Services (GDS) Assurance practice supports global EY client-serving teams with their reviews across industry sectors, including financial services, manufacturing and technology, among others. Through the right multidisciplinary team of professionals with the sector knowledge and subject matter expertise, EY GDS Assurance enables EY client teams in over 30 countries to help world's leading companies meet their assurance requirements.

Job description:
The purpose of this role is to deliver (a) profitable business growth, with focus on internal client, their key business strategies and issues, demonstrating entrepreneurial spirit and account centricity from global Assurance perspective, (b) build high performing teams and create a shared sense of purpose and commitment based on EY values & behaviours.

Winning in the market
• Develop and implement plans strategic to GDS and overall, Assurance that contributes to the business growth, recognizing the risks and opportunities of business/ commercial trends.
• Manage and grow GDS Assurance services to our multiple regions, with high quality service across all audit engagements, by being connected, responsive and insightful internally and with clients.
• Identifying new GDS markets for deploying the global delivery model with the Area Leader
• Working with the Area and Regional leaders from other EY offices to embed GDS into the service line methodologies/delivery processes
• Working with the Leaders to develop Area/Region/Country specific alignment with the global Assurance strategy
• Create short and long term business plans but also align them with the Area/Regional Assurance leaders and their market leadership plans (MLPs).
• Focus on developing solutions through the use of technology and data analytics to drive audit efficiencies in the markets they oversee.

Building High Performing Teams
• Act as a visible role model for Assurance team by living EY values & behaviours to drive a leading people culture that embraces teaming and ownership.
• Foster a diverse and inclusive team environment by empowering teams - mobilize the strengths, trust, and collaboration of team members so they are focused on achieving the highest standards and results.
• Guide team members on technical areas of high risk & complexity, participate actively in performance management & learning process of the team; help build the career value that team gains from working with GDS Assurance
• Mentor and coach direct reporting senior managers and managers on technical aspect and also on soft skills e.g. how to handle people issues, difficult client, decision making. Help identify career opportunities for high performing senior managers and managers
• Providence guidance to leaders in Assurance on the key priorities while managing several medium to large size projects and efficient & effective team allocation to projects and initiatives, based on skills, career goals & clients' expectation.

Quality
• Take responsibility of managing risk at the practice and engagement level -maintain independence and objectivity, complying personally(and challenging colleagues' and teams 'adherence) with all applicable professional standards, EY policies and regulatory requirements
• Deliver training on audit methodology, GAAP and other current accounting and auditing issues

Operational Excellence
• Strong focus on operational excellence, efficiency, and cost. It is critical to improve overall utilization levels in GDS Assurance, especially at senior and manager levels, while increasing overall retention and ensuring people development.
• Work with defined geographies and creating targets for delivered hours. Responsible for successfully monitoring the actual results against the budget for key KPIs like number of hours delivered, utilization, linearity of hours etc
• Provide direction and effective control over financial budgets and other key business processes, managing multiple business needs, balancing operational imperatives with the long term GDS Assurance future

Knowledge, skills and experience:
I. Technical Competencies
• Strong audit technical background supplemented with an understanding of the auditing business, geographies, and sectors.
• Strong knowledge of the Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) and sector knowledge will be an added advantage
• US GAAP or IFRS knowledge

II. Leadership and behavioural competencies
• Effective leadership style with focus on building inclusive culture & high performing teams of global professionals

III. Education and experience requirements
• Qualified Auditor (CPA, CA or equivalent qualification)
• Approximately 18+ years of audit experience within big four accounting firm or from an industry with vast experience of leading a large business unit with people responsibility of approx. 1000 to 3000 professionals
• Experience of working in a cross-border, virtual environment and international stint would be preferred
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills in English
