YOUR ROLE @ MNP

Performance Expectations
  • Liaise and correspond professionally with clients, colleagues and the firm leadership team
  • Collaborate with client engagement team prior to commencement of client work to discuss roles and responsibilities, risk areas, materiality and deadlines
  • Analyze client financial reporting for accurate and appropriate recording of revenues and expenses
  • Complete bank and other account reconciliations
  • Conduct compilation, review, bookkeeping and tax engagements
  • Set-up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses, manage multiple files simultaneously
  • Apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE)
  • Prepare financial statements and corresponding notes
  • Prepare personal, trust and corporate tax returns (and other tax compliance slips) ensuring compliance with government standards
  • Prepare year-end tax forms (T4s and T5s)
  • Respond to client questions and queries
  • Work with accounting software and provide support to clients
  • Update manager or engagement partner on the progress of engagements
  • Assist in development and coaching of junior team members
  • Raise identified client issues that need to be addressed with managers and engagement partners
  • Develop a thorough understanding of MNP's services, businesses and industry
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
  • Raise awareness of MNP at community events
  • Attend internal MNP courses to further develop your accounting and assurance knowledge
  • Some travel may be required

Credentials
  • Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce or Business Administration (Accounting or Finance major preferred)
  • Completion of CPA designation or completion of CFE examination and working towards relevant practical experience requirements will also be considered
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE)
  • Strong working knowledge of corporate, trust and personal income taxes
  • Experience working with, or exposure to, accounting and tax software such as Caseware, TaxCycle, Quickbooks and Simply Accounting is preferred
  • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and PDF Software
