The People and Business Services Division provides business enabling people and corporate services functions, to drive a high-performance culture and to support integrated operations.
About the Opportunity
The Internal Auditor role will assist with the implementation and achievement of activities under the DOT internal audit plan and will support the activities of the Independent Audit Branch. The Internal Auditor will also assist with performance of internal audit projects including monitoring and follow-up of audit recommendations and actions.

Internal Auditor
- Annual Salary Range: $85,279 - $96,759 per annum plus superannuation
- Tenure: Ongoing
- Employment Type: Full Time (flexibility may be available)
- Usual Work Location: Melbourne CBD (currently work from home, flexibility may be available)

About the Opportunity
The Internal Auditor role will assist with the implementation and achievement of activities under the DOT internal audit plan and will support the activities of the Independent Audit Branch. The Internal Auditor will also assist with performance of internal audit projects including monitoring and follow-up of audit recommendations and actions.
Key Accountabilites
- Assist with the performance of internal audit projects across the Department
- Apply DoT's audit methodology by implementing a risk-based approach to audit planning, fieldwork, reporting and follow up activities
- Provide assistance and support to the internal audit team and work collaboratively with internal audit service providers
- Assist with the preparation of high-quality internal audit reports and briefings which add value to the business
- Maintain relationships with key business areas and provide audit support services as required
- Provide support services to VAGO to facilitate achievement of planned performance audit activity
- Implement audit action monitoring/reporting activities and liaise with divisional audit contact points to ensure requirements are met
The suitable candidate will have:
- Demonstrated work experience in accounting and/or auditing
- General understanding of accounting and auditing standards
- Knowledge of the Institute of Internal Auditors - International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF)
- General understanding of the Standing Directions under the Financial Management Act
- Awareness and understanding of the Victorian Government Risk Management Framework and Risk Management Standards
- Proven data analysis and auditing skills with an aptitude for problem solving
- Proven ability to provide advice on audit, risk and internal control related matters
- Ability to identify and evaluate risks and internal controls and formulate value added recommendations
- Strong focus on record keeping, including maintenance of quality working papers to support reported findings and conclusions
- Proven ability to undertake tasks in a methodical and systematic manner to achieve desired outcomes
