The Cost Accountant will direct and coordinate all cost accounting duties for Capital and Parts & Service orders. Responsible for customer order reviews and approvals (eg. credit worthiness), order entry, customer invoicing and collection of cost details to provide monthly cost of sales, and cost of sales analysis. Manage accounts receivable collections and coordination of sales representative commission payments.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION (outline job duties and responsibilities):
  • Costing of sales for Capital and Parts & Service orders
  • Collaborate with Project Coordinators on Capital job closing matters
  • Attend Capital project closing meetings and weekly production meetings
  • Prepare and update monthly commission statements for sales representatives
  • Perform Parts & Service customer order approvals, order entry and customer invoicing
  • AR collections for past due customers
  • Maintain customer and vendor database in Sage
  • Direct labor and job postings; general ledger journal entries
  • Report weekly shop hours to payroll department
  • Coordinate monthly union dues payment
  • Provide backup for accounts payable, payroll clerk and other team members
  • Support Controller with month end closing activities
  • Participate in reconciling activities with the Controller, and assist with other tasks as needed
  • Continually develop expertise to support growth and improvement in the department
  • Complies with all company and departmental policies and procedures

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION DESIRED:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required
  • Minimum of five years' related experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong attention to detail, and an eagerness for continuous improvement
  • Computer experience to include Microsoft Suite programs and Sage 100
