David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit a Business Analyst, for a 12-month contract.

Reporting to the Delivery Manager, the Business Analyst will support the business transformation p rogram by touching on important topics such as digitization, automation, and advanced analytics and provides an opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

The Business Analyst will support projects in the development of business case documents, requirements gathering, design documents, presentation material, stakeholder engagement, and project management support within the ROS Program in areas such as IT field infrastructure, IoT, mining, engineering, maintenance, and processing operations technology systems.

The Ideal Candidate:
  • Jr. Business Analyst with 1-3 years of Business Analyst or other equivalent strategic planning competencies.
  • Project experience in complex environments, including cross-functional, international, or cross-organizational teams and stakeholders.
  • Project experience across multiple sites, including field operations, head office, and regional offices.
  • Knowledge of TOGAF Exploration & Mining Business Capability Models and their use in digital strategy development is considered an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams.
  • Exceptional communications (verbal and written) skills including development of executive presentation material and business justification documents.
  • Mining industry experience is an asset, specifically in areas of mining, processing, and engineering operations technologies.
  • Industrial infrastructure experience is an asset.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Spanish is considered an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's or post-graduate degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with the Mining or Natural Resources industry is preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office tools (O365), SharePoint (Online), and other tools used to capture business processes and create road maps.
  • Excellent analytical capabilities, problem-solving abilities, and strong knowledge of business analysis techniques.
  • Ability to work comfortably with a high degree of autonomy in an environment of fast-paced change and a highly distributed team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with IT technologies including industrial networking, software development, control systems, cybersecurity, industrial embedded hardware strongly desired.
  • Highly driven, effective, versatile, and action-oriented.
  • A working-level Spanish would be an asset.

Key Accountabilities (Expected Achievements):
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to prioritize requirements and communicate different messages effectively to different audiences.
  • Liaison between business, operations, and technology and innovation teams to accurately gather, analyze, document, and deliver business requirements.
  • Perform needs analysis based on business requirements and ensure solutions being proposed meets the organizational and business goals.
  • Participate in project development activities including, but are not limited to, documentation of business value drivers, analysis/research of needs, gathering, documenting, and updating business outcomes, and conduct information-gathering sessions.
  • Development of concise and professional execute presentation material.
  • Adapts to changing business priorities and business needs during active design periods; and can keep Requirement Definitions and other documentation updated accordingly.
