An opportunity has arisen for a Group Financial Controller to work at our Head Office in Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and working closely with our Executive Team, the Group Financial Controller is responsible for the accounting operations of the company, to include the distribution of periodic financial reports, maintenance of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
What you'll be doing day to day

Ensuring the continued development and operation of a first-class finance function
Overseeing the preparation and audit of the annual statutory accounts for the Group and its subsidiaries
Managing the monthly management accounts process, including consolidation of the Group's financial performance, management commentary and variance analysis
Preparing financial plans and budgets
Liaising with Business Unit Managing Directors, reviewing and challenging financial results and monitoring compliance with group procedures and controls
Cash management/cashflow forecasting
Tax compliance
Establishing and maintaining the formal operating and reporting processes of the finance function
Dealing with external advisers such as accountants, lawyers, bankers and auditors
Developing co-sourced internal audit programmes in conjunction with the Group's advisers
Assisting with the coordination and preparation of the Group's Annual Report & Accounts
Recommending benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
Reviewing and interrogating financial and operating metrics
Managing the production of the annual budget and forecasts
Analysing variances from the budget and overseeing the preparation of associated reports to the Board
Providing financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
Maintaining an IT development roadmap to ensure the Group's systems remain fit for purpose and achieve efficiencies wherever possible The experience we're looking for in a candidate

A minimum of 5 years post qualification experience
It is essential that the job holder is fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA
Experience in applying International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
Strong academic background
Experience establishing and maintaining financial management and reporting processes for a large business
Audit/practice trained
Experience working within a PLC desirable but not essential
Exceptional communication and team skills
Demonstrable commercial expertise ideally gained within a construction / engineering business The personal attributes we're looking for in a candidate
