David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client, one of the leading manufacturers of coffee creamer, liquid sauces and dressings for the US and Canadian markets to recruit for an Operations Finance Manager.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Operations Finance Manager would be responsible for managing and directing the financial functions for all production facilities including annual financial planning, manufacturing systems, capital planning and cost accounting.

The Role:
  • Supervise and provide guidance and development of direct reports
  • Responsible for all financial functions and reporting for the manufacturing facilities, including hourly payroll and inventory variances
  • Prepare metrics and monthly forecasts of plant performance and communicates to operations management and implements corrective action where needed
  • Partner with operations management to drive operation efficiencies
  • Will need to understand production operational procedures and how it relates to financial performance
  • Develop and deliver accurate and timely internal operational reports and provide insight of the data
  • Responsible for labour reporting and posting of standard labour journals
  • Support the inventory department in overseeing the month-end close of plant inventories
  • Responsible for the update of quarterly standards and help set the annual standards in Macola
  • Prepare the fixed asset continuity schedule/depreciation schedule
  • Support the annual operations budgeting process, including measurement and analysis
  • Provide guidance and ensure compliance with internal controls and Accounting/GAAP rules

The Ideal Candidate:
  • 7 to 10 years of operations finance experience in a manufacturing environment, with Standard Cost experience required
  • Certified CMA designation required
  • Experience working with JDE/SAP is preferred
  • Previous people management experience required
  • Strong understanding of full-cycle Accounting and Standard costing
  • Familiarity with multi-currency transactions
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with a high degree of accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel with Pivot tables, Vlookup experience is required
