Job Description
Reporting to the Private Asset Management (PAM) Fund Accounting Director, the Private Equity Accounting Manager will oversee the preparation and review of the portfolio accounting record performed via the administrator and will be responsible for the preparation and coordination of monthly and quarterly reporting to investors. The incumbent will be responsible for daily functions to support the building of the accounting record for private asset funds and separately managed accounts and will work closely with other areas of the investment operations department, front office, and the finance teams.
The PAM Investment Operations team consists of investment professionals that support the operations for private assets such as mortgages, private debt, fixed income, real estate, and private equity as well as third party alternative investment funds and separately managed accounts.

The Private Equity Accounting Manager responsibilities will include:
- Review of Capital Calls, Distributions and re-balancing calculations for Private Equity Funds.
- Review of Carried interest and Management fee Calculations.
- Review and analyze investor reporting, investor allocations, limited partnership agreements and other relevant legal documents.
- Prepare the various performance ratios for the Private Equity Funds.
- Overview of the quarterly NAV (to include the running of a parallel book of record) to ensure the overall accuracy of the portfolio accounting book of record maintained by our third party Administrator.
- Establish and maintain a single book of record for a portion of Manulifes private market funds that will not utilize the function of a third party Administrator.
- Management of the Administrators deliverables, ensure adherence to SLAs to support daily, quarterly and ad hoc responsibilities, including regulatory reporting.
- Timely and accurate production and coordination of the monthly and quarterly client reporting process in conjunction with the front office, finance, performance, and the administrator. Quality control and tolerance check all client reporting before publication to investors.
- Establish operating model to support multiple administrators and custody banks
- Act as a liaison between the internal groups/stakeholders and the administrator to ensure timely issuance of financial reporting data and other requests.
- Adherence to internal policies and procedures.Provide Administration data to support the front office, finance, compliance, and internal leadership requests
- Work with the technology teams to ensure downstream data feeds are accurate and complete.
- Ensures the team is operating under the strongest control environment and that tasks are completed timely within established procedures and controls, including proper escalation protocols.
- Work closely with management to implement business strategy for efficiency gains and to support new initiatives.
- Strong contributions in projects, new initiatives, and technology development.
Qualifications:
- Private Equity Accounting experience a must including sound knowledge of investment funds and related structures (e.g Holding companies, blockers, parallel vehicles, AIVs, co-investment vehicles, PE Fund of Funds)
- 5 " 8 years of Alternative Investment Experience in fund accounting, fund administration, or operations.
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP
- Knowledge of LUX GAAP and Luxemburg regulatory compliance a big plus.
- Accounting or Finance degree
- Masters and/or CPA beneficial.
- Ability to review and analyze investor reporting, investor allocations, limited partnership agreements and other relevant legal documents.
- Must have the ability to create and maintain strong relationships with people at all levels and different functions throughout the organization and with external partners.
- Strong planning, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Working knowledge of Investran a plus.
