This is a part time maternity cover position with an initial fixed term contract until the end of July 2020

Details of role

  • Start mid to late November, incumbent will finish work 22nd December
  • Minimum 24 hours per week
  • Flexibility to spread hours over 3-5 days and choose your own days
  • Additonal hours up to 38 per week (full time hours) are expect from late January to early February 2020 as this is a busy period for half year reporting


The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Performing general ledger account and bank statement reconciliation
  • Preparing journal entries and financial statements
  • Creating and maintaining periodic reporting
  • Maintaining fixed asset system
  • Assisting with annual budgeting
  • Compiling grant applications and expenditures reporting
  • Preparation of statistical and financial reports for creditors and agencies
  • Maintaining records retention
  • Assisting the Financial Officer Controller in preparation of reports for ATO, ASX and board


Other duties will include;

  • Preparation of month end accounts in accordance with the group timetable
  • Provide data, reporting and information to the finance team to assist with year-end, mid-year, management and financial accounts for the Company
  • Support the half year and annual audit process and internal reviews
  • Preparation and facilitation of the Business Activity Statement, Fringe Benefits Tax Return and Royalty Return
  • Assist in the development of operational specific processes, practices and procedures for cost control, analysis and reporting
  • Manage general ledger end of month and reconciliation processes
  • Coordinate capital expenditure tracking, capitalisation and review of capital projects, and maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register
  • Ensure contractor services are utilised effectively to minimise costs
  • Look for opportunities to reduce costs as part of business improvement


Requirements

Essential

  • Undergraduate Degree in Commerce Majoring in Accounting
  • Progression to CA or CPA
  • Intermediate or better excel skills
  • Minimum 5 years post graduate experience
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines
  • Proactive approach to personal safety and environmental hazard awareness
  • Works cooperatively with others with a strong desire to develop individuals to achieve the best possible outcome
  • Good organisation skills with the ability to meet assigned deadlines
  • Confident & positive communications skills to converse with team and management on a daily basis


Desirable

  • CA or CPA
  • Experience in the mining industry, particular with small exploration companies
  • At least 1 year experience in audit
