The Opportunity
The prime responsibility of the Placement Director role is to be an insurance placement specialist, with a key focus across the Midstream/Downstream Damage/BI & Construction/DSU classes for Oil & Gas & Construction/DSU for Mining risks, ensuring the design and strategic placement of Aon's clients, facilities and prospects across Asia.

Working with the service teams to ensure the best possible outcome for Aon's clients whilst ensuring client retention and revenue generation. This is achieved by guiding and directing the relevant teams and their clients through the Discover and Deliver phase of Aon's Client Promise, linking with other product experts on offer to ensure a tailor made and robust solution, developing relationships and at all times building and developing in conjunction with the clients short, medium and long term strategies.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a technical adviser to a range of internal and external stakeholder about program structures
  • Lead program design for complex placements
  • Designing and tailoring insurance solutions and broking strategies for clients
  • Establish strong relationships with underwriters
  • Establish strong connections within the Aon Network offices and the London Global Broking Centre
  • Provide support to the client management teams around retention of key accounts
  • Provide support to the client management team and Aon's Pursuit team around responses to RFPs
  • Executing technical renewal or new placement plans including negotiations with Underwriters
  • Participate in new business development initiatives and prospect presentations
  • Drafting broking slip, cover notes, insurance contracts, endorsement and other relevant broking documents
  • Preparing market materials (broker submissions) for broking risks to the underwriters
  • Developing and maintaining technical knowledge and experience in the energy field of expertise, including having up to date knowledge of insurance market developments, carrier capabilities and competitiveness
  • Working within the team to promote best practices, such as proprietary policy wordings and clauses, standardized templates for various documents, archiving of broking files, peer review process, compliance issues, etc
Requirements
  • At least 8 years insurance experience
  • Excellent understanding of the global insurance industry
  • Knowledge of the London Lloyds market with existing extensive network of underwriters
  • Relevent Insurance Industry qualifications (BCP, ComGI etc.)
  • Strength in the property insurance classes, particularly in heavy industry and resources sectors
  • Understanding of property risk from an insurance and reinsurance perspective
  • Extensive experience drafting, interpreting and negotiating policy wordings
  • Exposure to working in the reinsurance market, especially in property facultative lines, would be advantagoes
  • Attention to detail and results orientated
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively and confidently present to clients and other audiences
  • Positive and resilient personality, adaptable to change
  • Excellent relationship-building skills
  • Proven negotiation and conflict resolutions skills
  • Management and strategic leadership skills
