The client:

The company is one of the UK's leading independent flexible packaging manufacturers supplying an impressive range of blue chip customers in the food and FMCG sectors. It is a leading innovator in developing sustainable packaging solutions and has won several awards in recognition of its efforts. The business is a strong financial position and continues to show good levels of growth backed up by investment in its operation. The role of Finance Manager has been created to support the Finance Director with day to day transactional cash management and the successful incumbent will pay a key leadership role in the development of this function.

The role:

· Full accountability for managing and developing the transactional cash management and auditing functions
· Management of the auditing relationship and overseeing month end activities
· Ensuring accurate management accounting processes are in place and seeking 'best practice' opportunities
· Ownership and control of the balance sheet
· Leadership of a small team covering purchase and sales ledger responsibilities
· Reporting to the FD and MD on cash management and exposure to foreign exchange issues
· Management and development of the cashflow model identifying 'pinch' points and challenges
· Working with the different functional heads/Business Managers to identify and action cost initiatives
· Support the annual budget and forecasting cycles
· Reporting to the bank and other external financial partners
· Lead the R&D Tax process
· Take a proactive leadership role across the business in relevant finance projects

Person profile:

· Qualified/Finalist Accountant
· Ideally CIMA qualifications
· Good record of relevant experience as a management accountant
· Capability in managing and leading a team
· Worked in a fast paced complex manufacturing environment
· Experience of working in packaging is an advantage
· Hands-on and prepared to contribute to the smaller more repetitive tasks to ensure the department performs
· Experience of ERP and demonstrable skills in building Excel spreadsheets
· Confident communicator with excellent verbal and written skills
· Desire to be a key part of the management team
