Position summary

Downer Rollingstock Services (RSS) are looking for a Finance Analyst to join their team, situated in either Sydney or Melbourne. This role will provide support to the Senior Finance Accountant - RSS relating to data analysis, report building, and process improvement across Rollingstock Services. The role includes helping streamline the reporting for IT recharges and engineering costs and from time to time any ad hoc analysis where required.

In this role you will focus on financial modelling and forecasting, presenting data through to the RSS leadership team including the EGM, cash flow analysis and ad hoc data analysis when required. You will be well versed in interpreting data and being able to confidently present your findings to your seniors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Using various reporting tools to build streamlined and user-friendly reports for RSS stakeholders
  • Consolidate management profit and loss statements, ensuring accuracy between information sources (site finance submissions, JDEGS, TM1)
  • Preparing overhead forecasts and actual spend tracking for head office functions (Finance, HR, Business Development etc)
  • Managing stakeholders from different lines of RSS business to ensure reports are accurate and that cost allocations are accepted
  • Working with Treasury analysts to maintain the RSS cash flow forecast actual and forecast and develop reports to drive visibility around data accuracy and recovery positions
  • Implementing process improvements to drive efficiencies around recharges to the Line of Business
  • Assist with timely completion of monthly deliverables to Divisional head office (Flash result and commentary, TDR, R&Os etc)

About you:
  • Degree qualified in Finance / Accounting
  • Experience with cost allocation and recharge management, ad hoc spend analysis and reporting
  • Experience with Power BI and other reporting tools
  • Experience business partnering with managers
  • Experience with JDE preferred
  • Experience with IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) and Hyperion (HFM)
  • Dealing with stakeholders across the business including senior managers
  • Variance analysis between Actuals, budget and forecast
  • Detail-orientated and organized with superior analytical abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proactive identification of issues, obstacles and ability to problem solve
  • Results orientated and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines
  • Ability to transform large volumes of data into meaningful reports
