Your new role
Southend Borough Council is seeking to recruit a School Finance Service Manager. You will be leading a small dedicated and friendly team, who work with and support both the local authority's maintained schools, a local authority college and a suite of academy schools as part of a financial traded service agreement.
This is a very rewarding role as the team and yourself will visit schools as well as run financial training courses. You will also be responsible for ensuring direct educational funds are released to the local schools and college in a timely manner with the due controls in place, as well as ensuring both the budget plans and year end statement positions of the maintained schools and college are submitted and consolidated through to the local authority, including review and professional challenge where appropriate.
What you'll need to succeed
The successful applicant will ideally be a qualified Accountant or at least AAT qualified, be confident, polite and professional in direct face to face contact with the Schools, and it is essential that you have experience in Schools finance, either from a Local Authority or from a School. Your application will not be considered unless you have this specific background.
What you'll get in return
You will be paid between £38,900 - £45,900 per annum and will have access to a range of benefits offered by the council including Flexible working hours (although this is a full time role), Pension Scheme and employee schemes such as Childcare vouchers and Cycle2Work schemes.
