A US listed Private Equity firm is currently hiring for a Group Financial Controller to build their Australian finance team as they look to establish a presence in Australia. Reporting into the US, The Group Financial Controller will be the first hire for the business in Australia and will be responsible for the day-to-day financial, accounting and HR administration functions of the Company and its subsidiaries.

The successful candidate will be a CA qualified accountant with significant technical and operational accounting experience, as well as strong expertise across complex consolidated financial reporting. Funds or Wealth management experience is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & Reporting

  • Prepare/oversee and deliver all monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements (includes both reporting to the US publicly listed holding company and all required local reporting requirements)
  • Oversee all accounting operational functions, including monthly close process, regulatory audit and tax reporting
  • Develop annual budget and monitor performance and KPIs
  • Oversee banking, cash management and reconciliation process

Tax

  • Work with tax team to ensure compliance with all tax requirements for all operating companies.
  • Provide strategic assessment of tax implication for any major transactions or tax events, as applicable

Process/Controls

  • Supervise AR, AP, payroll, fixed asset, and revenue recognition / billing activities completed by internal teams.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors and manage financial audits and reviews
  • Oversee the implementation and design of the control environment and ensure that its effective and fit for purpose, including compliance with the US "SOX" requirements.
  • Support enhancements to the accounting system

M&A

  • Perform and support due diligence activities for active M&A activities
    • Perform/supervise all finance related diligence activities and work with the business to provide strategic assessment of the targets


Key Requirements:

  • CA qualified, chartered background preferred
  • 5+ years experience in a corporate accounting role
  • Experience within wealth or funds management is preferred, financial services essential
  • knowledge of USGAAP and SOX controls is beneficial
  • Strong communication skills
