Description

PUC National is a non-profit organization that serves to promote, support, benefit, replicate, and carry out the purposes and mission of Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC Schools).

We have a contractual relationship with Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC Schools) to provide a variety of support services to the schools in NE Los Angeles and the NE San Fernando Valley. This includes, but is not limited to Finance, Human Resources, Operations, IT and Data Management, facilities identification and acquisition, fundraising, grant management, college access, alumni relations, charter development and renewal, and compliance.

Job Purpose:

The ideal Accounts Payable Representative believes in and is passionate about the mission and commitments of PUC National and exhibits this through their leadership, reflection, and collaboration to ensure schools' success across the organization.

Essential Duties and responsibilities, listed but not limited, below:
  • Receives and processes internal check requests
  • Performs accounts payable counting functions including receiving and matching invoices, account coding, and accounts payable related record keeping
  • Responsibilities include reviewing and matching invoices with purchase orders and delivery receipts, generating data entry and processing for payment
  • Verifies invoices for quantity, unit pricing, and applicable discounts
  • Process all debt service invoices
  • Obtains approval from appropriate personnel for payment for invoices
  • Research and answer vendor inquiries
  • Receives and processes internal check requests
  • Assist schools with purchases if needed
  • Provide assistance with purchase order process
  • Answer employee inquiries
  • Maintain filing systems for all input documents
  • Ensures that all independent contractors complete a W-9 form
  • Must prepare meaningful, concise, and accurate reports
  • Perform AR as needed
  • Answer phones in a timely manner
  • Perform other accounts payable/accounting duties as requested by the CFO

Qualifications

Experience, Education & Skills Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Excellent knowledge of accounting principles
• Ability to work in a high-volume environment, cutting 100-125 checks/week
• 1-3 years of experience in accounts payable and accounting preferred
• MIP experience a plus
• Intermediate experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Skill operation of adding machine and calculator
• Regular attendance, dependability, and punctuality in conformance with the standards are essential to the successful performance of this position
• The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Occasionally required to kneel, climb, and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level, lift up to 30 pounds. To bend, sit, stand, squat, stoop, walk, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms at shoulder level or below. Always required to wear the appropriate safety equipment for the task, which may include gloves, goggles, aprons, belts, etc.

Skills:
• Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus
• Ability to handle sensitive telephone, face-to-face inquiries, and contracts with the public and vendors
• Must be extremely accurate, detail-oriented, and well organized
• Be proactive, take initiative, and work effectively in teams as well as independently
• Ability to multi-task
• Great customer service skills
• Excellent organizational skills

Salary & Benefits

• Hourly Rate $18-$20 DOE
