Lyft is looking to hire a qualified and experienced Accounting Manager to join its Controllership team. This is a critical role that will manage the general accounting operations of Lyft's insurance and investment programs. The role provides significant growth opportunity as it encompasses day to day controllership duties as well as involvement on a number of project based initiatives to scale the operational side of these accounting processes. The candidate should expect to leverage current skill sets, while also focusing on learning quickly and adding value to the current processes in a fast paced, public company environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in reviewing portions of the balance sheet and income statement, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations and flux analyses focusing on investments, marketable securities, and insurance reserves
  • Responsible for reviewing actuarial analysis of insurance reserves
  • Responsible for the insurance subsidiary level accounting, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, monthly and quarterly close activities
  • Assist in the consolidation of the company-wide financial results through the preparation/review of top sides, elimination, and intercompany journal entries
  • Responsible for planning and executing the accounting processes in accordance with the monthly close calendar timelines
  • Work cross functionally with Finance, Risk Solutions, and other business partners to gather information, and advise on accounting considerations related to the Company's insurance programs
  • Support the reporting process by gathering financial and other data for footnote disclosures in SEC documents
  • Develop and implement scalable accounting processes to facilitate timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Assist in documentation/implementation of internal controls and ensure SOX compliance in areas of responsibility
  • Proactively identify issues and areas for improvement while helping to establish and maintain policies and procedures
  • Assist in managing external audit of Lyft Inc., including preparation/review of audit requests and ongoing support
  • Assist in managing the insurance subsidiary's external audit, including preparation/review of requests and ongoing support
  • Responsible for leading and mentoring two Senior Accountants
  • Perform special, ad-hoc projects in Accounting/Finance as requested

Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance required, CPA preferred
  • 7+ years of Accounting experience, Big 4 and insurance industry experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently with minimal daily direction from management to accomplish objectives and deadlines
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills are a must
  • Accounting research and problem solving skills required
  • Must be detail oriented and able to multitask
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills - must have significant experience in Microsoft and Google applications; Oracle experience is strongly preferred
  • Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks that adhere to strict deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment
