We are currently seeking a talented professionalto join our JDI Finance team and showcase these talents in the role of Senior Accountant. As the successfulapplicant for this opportunity, you will be located at Irving Shipbuilding in Dartmouth,Nova Scotia, focused on our Shipbuilding Companies.

Irving Shipbuilding is in the business of building qualityships and repairing vessels. IrvingShipbuilding is currently working on a number of significant projects for theDepartment of National Defense and the Canadian Coast Guard. Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree, and Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) Designation
  • 3-5 years of post-designation experience in accounting and reporting
  • Excellent financial acumen, operational understanding and a detailed 'hands on' approach
  • Continuous Improvement mindset
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, critical thinking and organizational skills
  • Leadership or mentorship experience would be considered an asset
  • Experience with accounting software, and strong Microsoft Office Excel skills

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial statement preparation & variance analysis
  • Coordination of internal and external audits
  • Continuous improvement Projects
  • Coaching of accounting associates to ensure ongoing team development and support

The successful applicant must meet requirementsfor Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), and Canadian Government Securityclearance.
