Your new role
You'll report to the CFO and will have a varied and evolving position which will build up to include the following: Accounts Management
  • Assist Chief Financial Officer in the management of the group accounts team including managing workflow and deadlines, output quality, coaching & training
  • Manage group finance department processes and procedures including, but not limited to:
    • Compliance with accounting policies and standards
    • Ensuring consistency in processing and procedures
    • Seeking, implementing and improving efficiencies
    • Ensuring compliance requirements are met within required timeframes
    • Ensure appropriate controls are in place to produce effective and high-quality output from accounts team
  • Responsible for the effective management of the accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledgers for the group, ensuring:
    • Creditor records maintained and reconciled
    • Timely and accurate invoicing and statement generation
    • Timely preparation of bank reconciliations
    • General ledger management
    • Work paper generation and maintenance
Management Reporting
  • Manage the preparation and distribution of timely and accurate reporting outputs for the group, to be distributed to management and relevant team members
  • Analysis of operating performance from various reports (interim reports, month end results, other ad hoc reports) and comparison against budget scenarios using excel and other data analytics tools
  • Oversight of Fixed Asset Registers with a key focus on maintaining accuracy of asset records and ongoing asset register review
  • Assist in the preparation of budget reports and financial forecasting
  • Assist in the preparation of external reports e.g. Bank Covenant reports, Valuations work papers
Statutory Reporting
  • Manage the timely and accurate preparation of compliance and statutory returns / work papers. In particular, BAS, PAYG, FBT, Payroll Tax, Superannuation, WorkCover, Tax
  • Managing the collation, presentation and review of year-end financial reports to external accountants
Other
  • Oversight of all inter-entity transactions and reconciliations
  • Act as key contact and systems support for MYOB software
  • Act as key contact for other Departments and manage operational interactions with the Finance Department
  • Liaise with lawyers, bankers, agents, suppliers etc - form professional relationships
  • Assist the Chief Financial Officer with the day-to-day financial operations

What you'll need to succeed
You'll ideally be CA or CPA or working towards this. This could be your first move into commerce from an accounting firm or you may already be an Accountant in commerce and seeking your next career move. You'll have excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail and will enjoy variety whilst being 'hands on'.
