Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Financial Accountant will play a key role in managing the financial affairs of the organisation and the various other entities it administers.
A primary focus of this role with be end-to-end accounting and reporting of the Public Purpose Fund, Legal Practitioners Fidelity Fund, Pro Bono Disbursement Trust Fund, Solicitors Benevolent Association, AIJA and LawAsia.

A primary focus of this role with be end-to-end accounting and reporting of the Public Purpose Fund, Legal Practitioners Fidelity Fund, Pro Bono Disbursement Trust Fund, Solicitors Benevolent Association, AIJA and LawAsia.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Managing the accounting functions and general ledger, including oversight of monthly balance sheet, banking and inter-entity reconciliations.
- Perform Bank Reconciliations and general ledger processing across all entities
- Interest calculation and accruals
- Responsibility for GST, BAS, FBT and other relevant statutory financial reporting obligations.
- Responsibility for Quarterly and Annual Business Indicator Survey Submissions
- Support and mentor the Assistant Accountants and Accounts Payable roles in achieving month end and year end deadlines.
- Assist the Financial Controller to ensure the timely and accurate compilation of the annual statutory financial statements in accordance with relevant legislation, accounting standards and regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements of other entities falling under the responsibility of the , including the Public Purpose Fund, Legal Practitioners Fidelity Fund, Pro Bono Disbursement Trust Fund, Solicitors Benevolent Association, AIJA and LawAsia.
- Assist the Financial Controller with the coordination and preparation of the annual operating budget. This includes liaising with and assist departmental managers with individual operating budgets.
- Ensure that performance against budget, on both a departmental and consolidated level, is being both monitored and controlled.
- Liaise with external service providers and ensure the requirements are being fulfilled, including business banking, investment advice, taxation advice and statutory activity funding (Justice Department).
- Liaise with external auditors, banks and other relevant stakeholders as required
- Ensure that accounting standards and the internal financial policies are adhered to
- Respond to financial queries and providing information as required
- Proactively pursue financial process improvements and system enhancement initiatives.
- Actively support the Chief Operating Officer, Financial Controller, and other senior managers with relevant financial information when required.
Qualifications and Relevant Experience Required
- Professional accounting qualification (CA or CPA)
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years post-qualification accounting experience
- Experience in a chartered or professional/financial services firm would be advantageous
- Strong computer software skills, including advanced knowledge and use of Excel
- System maintenance and enhancement skills utilising a major or mid-tier accounting application, including for reporting and analysis purposes
- Advanced problem solving and analytical skills, including the ability to identify issues and suggest solutions
- Technically adept with a strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- A desire to continually improve and grow within the organisation
