In - house VAT Assistant Accountant - Manchester - Salary paying up to £21,000 plus benefits
Based in the North West, our client is a manufacturing organisation who is seeking an individual to join their business as an In - house VAT Assistant Accountant.
THE JOB:
The role will primarily be to be responsible for the preparation and timely filing of the monthly, quarterly and yearly VAT declarations, Intrastat for arrivals and dispatches and EC Sales and Purchase lists and the role will report directly into the VAT Compliance Supervisor.
Main Responsibilities:
THE PERSON:
Whilst it would be preferable that someone already has a working knowledge or possess practical experience of filing VAT returns we would also be interested in hearing from applicants whom are AAT qualified and have some experience of working in an accounts role, but have a desire to work in this ever-changing specialism. It is essential that you have good MS office skills, including Excel, and be a natural problem-solver who is willing to use their own initiative and create solutions where required.

Main Responsibilities:
- Responsible for learning indirect tax legislation, which includes but is not limited to the VAT returns prepared
- Assist the VAT Compliance Supervisor in implementing changes that will maintain VAT compliance including but not limited to ensuring timely reconciliation of VAT accounts for all in scope countries
- Provide ad-hoc analysis as required
- Responsible for ensuring VAT receivables are repaid in a timely manner and all payments made by due dates
- Responsible for executing the indirect tax controls needed for compliance with the Sarbanes - Oxley Act
- Take an active role in Perfect Execution activities as required
