Accounting Section Head (Qatari Nationals Preferred)

The College of the North Atlantic - Qatar is inviting nominations and applications for the position of Accounting, Section Head in the Finance Department. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accounting Section Head must be a proven leader with the skills and expertise necessary to support the Finance Department in fully implementing the College’s mission and vision.

Duties & Responsibilities:

This position requires an experienced and enthusiastic individual who will help manage the College’s accounting activities in compliance with international accounting standards, College protocols and Government legislation. The incumbent will also be responsible to oversee the daily operations of the Accounting Section and employees and be responsible for ensuring that all work is completed and documented in an accurate and timely manner. She/he will develop and implement processes that facilitate collection, verifying, and reporting of College accounting data.

Candidates should have an outstanding record of experience in Financial Accounting, preferably in a management or senior level role, and possess the qualifications necessary to be successful in the role of Section Head, Accounting. The candidate will support the development of the Finance department’s business plan in alignment with CNA-Q’s strategy, land work closely with the Financial Control and Reporting Section Head and the Budgeting and Analysis Section Head.

Candidates will monitor the College’s financial status and provide regular reports to the Finance Manager on the College’s revenue and expenses. She/he will liaise with Department Managers and budget holders to provide accounting policy interpretation, in line with the college’s protocols and Government legislation, contribute in the development of the Finance department’s policies, procedures, processes and guidelines and, act as a subject matter expert by participating in College and departmental committees and initiatives to promote Accounting initiatives and encourage compliance with college accounting protocols.

Furthermore, candidates will develop, maintain, communicate, analyze and recommend modifications to accounting reporting processes, policies and procedures in alignment with the College’s strategic objectives and, maintain confidentiality of College accounting information in alignment with College protocols.

The Accounting Section Head will provide professional development support and perform periodic performance reviews for direct subordinates to contribute to the development of employees and must have excellent organizational, leadership, decision-making, delegation and communications skills as well as the ability to act as a mentor to team members.
