POSITION : BUYERAREA : PIETERMARITZBURGSALARY : R 25 000 - R 30 000 CTC PER MONTHMAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:The successful candidate would be accountable for the procurement function. To build and develop a highly effective procurement function and strategy. Effect cost management strategies, procurement policies and lead supplier contract negotiations.SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:Completed Degree in Supply Chain/Procurement/CommercialMUST live in the Pietermaritzburg area OR outer western suburbsMin. 3 years procurement/buying experience is ESSENTIALPurchasing & technical experienceFamiliarity with procurement software, approval workflows, purchasing policy, purchasing policy development and contract is highly preferredUnderstanding and previous experience in industrial, construction buying an advantage, both capital and operational spendsGood accounting knowledge and understanding of impacts of buying to the General Ledger and accounting records vitalLicense + own vehicle is ESSENTIALDuties:
  • Prepare, raise and issue purchase orders in line with entire company requirements
  • Obtain quotations from suppliers per requisitions and needs of business
  • Develop market knowledge and contacts (suppliers) for products and services
  • Issue relevant internal documents to assist in planning and operation as required by business.
  • Ensure that the suppliers conform to the requirements in accordance with the supplier contract.
  • Ensure distribution or shipment of all equipment and materials to required business deliverables nationally and internationally
  • Liaise with relevant shipping agent on quotations
  • Arranging and loading of containers, dispatching of equipment and ensuring associated packing lists and paperwork completed.
  • Ensure busines is compliant in documentation requirements for local and international shipping and banking.
  • Follow up on non-delivered supplier purchase orders
  • Ensure control and appropriate system for tracking the holding of equipment/parts for the business within its offices or warehouses
  • Maintain buying authorisation processes
  • Negotiate terms and pricing with new and existing suppliers
  • Manage supplier returns
  • Assist in compiling and adjudication of RFQ / RFIs for internal departments
  • Assist in sourcing reliable alternate suppliers as necessary
  • Evaluate supplier bids and make recommendations
  • Ensure implementation of procurement processes, policies, and procedures throughout the business
  • Implement appropriate controls and authorisation procedures for all related functions and processes.
  • Ensure orders are tracked and delivered and associated audit trail robust is complete.
  • Deliver business cost savings through buying initiatives and maximise purchasing leverage across the business
  • Prepare Monthly and ad-hoc financial and business unit purchasing reports and analysis.
  • Be involved in delivering company BEE Policies and procurement targets
