Job Description Summary
The Senior Finance Manager (SFM) is responsible for the financial strategy and oversight of six oncology disease programs/divisions in the Abramson Cancer Center (ACC). The SFM oversees the financial reporting activities, as well as the internal control environment in the ACC. The SFM is accountable for administrative and financial management operations, including the development of financial metrics tied and the ongoing development and monitoring of systems designed to report accurate financial results. The SFM reports directly to the Executive Director of Administration in ACC. The position requires strong leadership over all fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities for the ACC, in collaboration with faculty, administrators, and ACC leadership

POSITION CONTINGENT UPON FUNDING

Job Description
The SFM will be responsible for managing and maintaining a growing clinical research portfolio which includes industry, federal, and foundation sponsors for $12M per annum with over 100 awards and will be responsible for developing and managing a team that consists of three financial and administrative staff who will assist in pre-and post-award financial processes. The SFM will have oversight of proposal submission, budget development, and contract negotiations (finance) through study initiation as well as post-award financial management and reporting and will ensure that the following are done effectively and efficiently:

Establishing internal family accounts for study related patient expenses Coordinating with clinical project managers and CRU Director and Associate Directors to ensure financial compliance and provide financial information for resource planning allocation. Reviewing complex contract information and invoicing sponsors for study payments based on milestones and activity. Developing, analyzing, and submitting routine financial reports to Principal Investigators. Preparing internal reports and responding to inquiries from University administration concerning specific grant and contract information. Processing study payments through the University s financial systems and budget funds based on initial study proposal. Oversee the payroll process for the six disease based clinical trials programs in the Cancer Center. Provide financial analysis over clinical trial portfolio and submit findings to the Executive Director of Administration.

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance and 7-10 years experience in fiscal operations or clinical research contract and subcontract administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Demonstrated knowledge of project budgeting and fiscal management. Comprehensive knowledge of and understanding of clinical research contracts and subcontracts preferred. Working knowledge of CMS policy as it relates to coverage for subjects enrolled in clinical trials. Strong financial, analytical, and modeling skills. Experience with the University of Pennsylvania financial systems preferred. Advanced user skills with Excel and other Microsoft programs and computer systems. Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and accurate. Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills, along with the ability to work within tight and often conflicting deadlines. Must be flexible. Must also be discreet and have the ability to handle confidential financial matters.
