The Financial Director is the mid-level position in the Financial Leadership family. They operate at a local level and in high complexity environments. They take their instructions and guidance from the Senior Financial Director and their primary objective is to perform the full financial function for multiple lines of business within Dimension Data.

What you'll be doing

Contribute to strategy
The Financial Director contributes to business unit strategy formulation and the setting of strategic direction of the organisational unit and takes ownership of the strategic execution within his/her area of responsibility.

Manage financial function
The Financial Director contributes to the co-ordination and management of the accounting function. They ensure that all financial processes, systems and policies are established and adhered to. These individuals oversee the work in progress cycle and ensure proper and efficient costing, managing operational cost recovery and operational expenditure. They ensure that company assets are included in the asset register and depreciated accurately. They perform a variety of monthly reconciliations to ensure integrity of financial information.

Financial analysis and reporting
The Financial Director contributes to the analysis and preparation of several financial reports and ensures the distribution and presentation of this information at the relevant forums. In the Enterprise Services environment this would include the analysis, preparation and presentation of financial reports to clients. They analyse and prepare all month-end and year-end reports, including statutory fiscal reports, management accounting packs, project profitability analysis and variance reports. They need to ensure that the financial information is analysed to enable the presentation of detailed explanations particularly for variances from the financial forecast. These individuals may be required to perform financial preparation and analysis for new business proposals.

Legal compliance
These individuals implement and manage compliance with financial controls. They ensure legal compliance with regards to legal and fiscal tax requirements in relation to the geography in which they operate and co-ordinate and ensure the smooth running of year end audits.

Budget compilation
The Financial Director initiates the budget process and prepares and submits the annual budget and manages expenditure against the budget and ensures that provisions are made for accruals to ensure adequate cover. They ensure that the budgetary process is used to track and report on all expenditure.

Manage accounts receivable and payable function
The Financial Director oversees reconciliations, payments, purchase orders and ensures that the gross profit percentage is maximised. They oversee the invoicing process including allocation of payments and preparing debtor reports. They approve purchase orders and creditors and ensure that these are processed in line with the relevant financial procedures.

Billing management
Financial Directors manage the accounts billing function to ensure that billing targets are met. They review the order report for commissions and oversee expense claims. They ensure that commissions payable to the Sales organisation are processed in line with corporate policy and accrue for any outstanding balances.

Contract management
The Financial Director displays good interpersonal skills and manages maintenance contracts ensuring that correct revenue and cost deferrals and contract renewals are processed on their anniversary date.

People management
The Financial Director acts as people manager for more junior employees in the Finance team. They optimally staff the finance department and ensure the full utilisation of resources. To achieve this, the Financial Director coaches and develops individuals in the team. They manage work activities and ensures successful completion of processes.

Behavioural skills
Financial Directors have specialist financial knowledge and are process driven individuals who are commercially astute. The display impeccable attention to detail and the work they produce is of superior quality. They are very assertive individuals who display excellent negotiation and problem solving ability. They have excellent verbal and written communication skills and can work effectively in a team environment. They have excellent leadership skills, strategic capability, proactive approach and ability to execute key components which ensure success in this position.

Required Work Experience:
12 - 15 years' working experience
At least 12 years' working experience in a related field

What would make you a good fit for this role?

Reporting line: This position is an individual contributor at region level reporting to the regional CFO and has a reporting relationship with country FinOp managers in the region.

Digitized processes: The O2C and P2P are operated in a digitized/ robotized environment and operating offshore through a sister company (NTT Data).

Post-Quotation to Booking process: manage and improve. Billing & revenue management: ensure accurate/timely billing and optimize revenue for all countries. Backlog management: periodic review of country aged backlogs to clean up. Monitor services side project status accuracy impacting revenue and margin forecasting. Vendor supply, inventory and logistics management: ensure sufficient product supplies to meet quarterly revenue commitment and timely delivery to clients at the lowest logistic costs. To optimize and minimize inventory through vendor shipment management (to accelerate or to hold). Manage the vendor supply relationship. Post-NTTC/DD integration, to recommend best options to merge / consolidate / run the above Quote to book, billing and revenue, backlog, inventory processes and execute the recommendations for all countries. Monitor and improve the post integration processes.

Ideal candidate:
  • Minimum 15 years of Finance management experience in AP country. Operating experience in IT industry.
  • Organize and structure with a continuous process improvement/optimization mindset. Sigma trained preferred.
  • Strong in remote management. Team player.
  • IT knowledge, ERP implementation, Audit experience all plus points.
