The BBC is the largest broadcasting corporation in the world. Its mission is to enrich people's lives with programmes that inform, educate and entertain. It is a public service broadcaster, established by a Royal Charter and funded by the licence fee that is paid by UK households. The Production Accounting team operates within the production community to ensure that production budgets are effectively managed and appropriate controls are in place to reduce risk.
Role Responsibility
As the Assistant Production Accountant, you will be responsible for cost management, maintaining and monitoring the purchase and manual order log, ensuring all transactions are entered accurately in the appropriate accounting system and resolving any supplier queries.
You will ensure that the BBC's Purchasing/Procurement guidelines are adhered to on the production and will liaise with the Procurement department to progress any out of scope purchasing.
You will undertake a range of accounting and reporting tasks, recording transactions in the production's books of prime entry and general ledger and assisting in the preparation of weekly cost reports. The role will also require you to review production records to monitor the overall cost control of the production and will assist as appropriate in the preparation of filing tax and NI returns.
Where necessary, you will also assist in operating the production bank accounts in any currency, to include the handling and disbursement of cash to cover agreed expenditure through the bank account and will prepare weekly finance and expenditure reports and produce regular bank and petty cash reconciliation.
Are you the right candidate?
You will demonstrate practical experience in a TV Production environment, preferably with prior exposure to cost management and general ledger accounting. The role demands excellent communication skills and you will possess the ability to interact effectively with non-finance stakeholders across various disciplines from Production staff through to Procurement.
