Description

The Accounting Lead Analyst is an individual contributor role responsible for accounting activities on the Cigna-HealthSpring Shared Services Revenue team. The team is responsible for recording journal entries and preparing account reconciliations related to CMS revenue, member premiums and EGWP premium on multiple Medicare Advantage health plans. In addition, the team is responsible for recording management fees and maintaining financials for the Living Well Pharmacy.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for assigned tasks including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations during the month end close process
  • Analytical review of the balance sheet and income statements to ensure accuracy of the general ledger balances
  • Support PwC annual audit, including providing requested information and performing walkthroughs
  • Support the technical accounting team through internal control requests, controllership plans and/or other future projects
  • Support the Internal Audit team by providing requested information and performing walkthroughs.
  • Support the Statutory financial reporting team by completing schedules as requested.
  • Adhere to accounting methods, policies and practices
  • Provide ad-hoc support to other members of the shared services accounting team based on need
  • Identify process improvement opportunities, establish efficiencies within the existing process and deliver on the proposed improvement
  • Ensure an adequate control environment exists through identification of any control gaps and escalate issues to the senior management
  • Support the technical accounting team through internal control requests and/or other future projects


Qualifications
  • B.S. in Accounting. CPA and/or MBA preferred
  • 2+ years' experience in accounting
  • Experience with general ledger systems such as PeopleSoft or Oracle
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with tight deadlines
  • Flexibility to work off hours during peak reporting period
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Motivated, proactive self-starter who takes ownership and is results oriented
  • Insurance and/or health care industry experience preferred
