Description:
Are you interested in being part of growing Amazon in Australia? We are looking for a high calibre finance professional. The role will be involved in planning, developing financial reports and processes and building analytical models. This position will partner with the commercial teams, providing insightful ad-hoc analysis to build product selection, support terms negotiations and drive performance of the business. He/she will also build business cases to assess new opportunities, e.g. new programmes and incremental strategic spend.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity, analytical, detail oriented and will possess the ability to work well with cross-functional teams including Amazon retail and a range of finance teams.

Key responsibilities:
• Reporting
o P&L actuals - ensure accurate and timely month end reporting, liaising with relevant teams to investigate variances as needed
o Responsible for finance commentary required for Leadership Team updates and key business reviews. Coach business team
o Develop the necessary reporting tools and rhythm of review for understanding drivers of performance versus business case assumptions

• Planning and analysis
o Drive the financial planning process through working with key stakeholders.
o Partner the commercial team on pricing, promotional and profitability analysis to build forecasts and to understand drivers of performance on an ongoing basis.
o Support commercial teams in developing vendor terms asks

• Business Case development
o Build business case for any new opportunities, such as new programmes, new categories or incremental strategic investment

• Financial Control
o Identify key financial risks and develop the framework and controls to mitigate these - link up with other Amazon teams where required, including accounting and tax.
o Creation of control reports to enable review and auditing of P&L actual balances to ensure accuracy and completeness of information.

Basic Qualifications:
• 5+ years of relevant experience in a corporate environment
• 5+ years experience with Microsoft Excel and ideally also SQL
• Strong analytic skills and a demonstrated ability to build and manage quantitative models for business forecasting, variance analysis, and problem solving

• Basic experience with financial and accounting systems (COGNOS, Essbase, Oracle)
• Experience with data warehouse systems (SQL) preferred
• Direct experience in online or offline FMCG, Retail, Distribution, On-Line or Operations (FC, Trans, Supply Chain) a strong plus but not necessary
