Our client a well established and reputable engineering sector business have a highly sought after senior job opportunity for a Head of Finance for their Division in Hamilton.

Your new role

Reporting directly into the Managing Director, you will manage a large finance function including management accounts and shared services functions and be responsible for producing high quality consolidated financial information concerning the whole of the Division, and help to drive business performance.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide all financial requirements (monthly, budgets/forecasts, annual) in a professional and timeous manner and input into risk and opportunity management.
  • Ensure the Company's cash flow is managed in the best interest of the business and in accordance with the agreed business plan.
  • Supporting decision making in relation to bid winning (review of pricing proposal, costing processes, adherence to stage gate compliance) and strategic planning
  • Develop financial systems and ensure robust and effective controls across the business
  • Co-ordinate finance input to Change implementation programmes and take a lead role in strategic projects.
  • Drive continuous improvement through team and lead with a 'can do' attitude.
  • Manage relationship and lead the process with Internal / External Auditors.
  • Ensure financial compliance with all regulatory bodies and legislation.
  • Control the delegated authority requirements for the business.


What you'll need to succeed

You will be a professionally qualified accountant with significant senior level experience and will possess:
  • Strong financial background in a similar type of Business (construction, rail, utilities, Power) general engineering sector. Ideally have worked on framework contracts but not essential.
  • Senior Project and Finance accounting experience.
  • Strong people management and leadership skills
  • Business, process and culture change experience - Experience of projects, reviewing existing processes and making improvements to save costs and drive margins / profit.
  • Strong financial governance background, ensuring financials are accurately reported identifying any risks or opportunities
  • The ability to influencing senior management.
  • Systems implementation experience
