T he Compliance and Audit Assistant will provide support to the compliance & contracts and audit functions in the Finance & Legal division, reporting to the Contracts & Compliance Manager as well as providing support to Senior Manager of Internal Audit & Compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Compliance and Contracts Assistance (60%)
Audit Assistance (40%)
Any other duties and/or requirements as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
Education: Enrolled in or recent graduate from College or University program in the field of Accounting, Legal/Paralegal, Finance, International Development or Economic Development

T he Compliance and Audit Assistant will provide support to the compliance & contracts and audit functions in the Finance & Legal division, reporting to the Contracts & Compliance Manager as well as providing support to Senior Manager of Internal Audit & Compliance.
- Job Status: 8-month contract (full-time hours)
- Start Date: October 2020
- Location: Waterloo, Ontario
RESPONSIBILITIES
Compliance and Contracts Assistance (60%)
- Ongoing administrative/organization of paper and electronic files and routine tasks including data entry, organization, scanning, copying and retrieval
- Prepare various legal documents, forms, emails and materials for signature/distribution to internal/external stakeholders
- Diarize key contract dates and deliverables
- Communicate/collaborate with Global Program team and other key stakeholders on contract deliverables
- Summarize and document key information for intake of new files/contracts
Audit Assistance (40%)
- Review & validation of field project spending
- Review & validation of receipts, contracts & deliverables
- Cradle to grave payment tracing
- Remote discussions with field staff
- Preparation of draft audit findings in report format
- Preparation of clerical audit committee materials
- Support web-development for internal audit at MEDA
Any other duties and/or requirements as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
Education: Enrolled in or recent graduate from College or University program in the field of Accounting, Legal/Paralegal, Finance, International Development or Economic Development
Other Qualifications:
- Appreciation and support of MEDA's mission , v ision and values
- Understanding and appreciation of business principles, international development and MEDA's approach of creating business solutions to poverty
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Interest in pursuing an accounting designation (CIA, CPA or equivalent) or enrolled in a law program
- Ability to work independently
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to maintain confidentiality
- Sense of curiosity and willingness to challenge status quo
- Interest in monitoring, evaluation, data analysis, audit, risk, and metrics
- Strong Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) skills
- Previous international travel experience in developing countries is an asset
- Proficiency in a foreign language (specifically Spanish or Arabic) is an asset
