Job Purpose
Current Accounting, Reporting & Tax
Responsibilities
- Timely escalation of long outstanding balances following internal credit control procedures
- Timely preparation and completion of reporting packages to regulators or Home Office including the preparation of financial statements
- Key liaison for any queries and questions from either regulators or Home Office
- Timely preparation of quarter end and year end provisional corporate tax computations and deferred tax calculations
- Timely review of yearly corporate tax returns and computations to ensure timely submissions o the Inland Revenue Board including preparing/providing relevant supporting tax schedules, timely and satisfactory response on all queries
- Ensure compliance with transfer pricing (on related party transactions) and withholding tax rules (on payments to non-resident including ascertaining the applicability of withholding tax
- Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments
- Support the timely preparation and analysis of quarter end and year end reporting
- Support with various internal audits, external audits and special tax related projects.
- Proactive involvement in ad hoc projects, including automation projects rolled out by Home Office
- Proactive and timely escalation/resolution or issues in Re7 (with regards to BI and report creation in BI)
- Develop and recommend areas for enhancements and improvements for the current systems and processes to meet the challenges and needs of tax and related areas.
- Assist Head of F&A on all ad-hoc requests
Required qualifications
- University degree, Accounting, preferred
- Professional qualification, ACCA or equivalent
- Good command of English (written and spoken)
- Relevant experience in insurance/reinsurance is added advantage
- Relevant experience in Local reporting, at least 3 years
- Relevant corporate tax experience, at least 3 years
- Able to manage a small team
- Good knowledge and understanding of accounting entries
- Good comprehension of Local Accounting standards
- Good understanding of the reinsurance business
- Good comprehension and understanding of local tax laws/ requirements, including transfer pricing
- Good analytical skills
- Accuracy - minimal errors in reporting
