Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and results driven professional to deliver taxation services to clients of Link Group, to ensure our processes and systems are compliant and to mitigate the tax risks of Link Group.

Reporting to the Tax Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that the tax services delivered to our clients are complete, accurate and on time. The role covers a range tax services predominately for superannuation funds. With a sound background and understanding of tax compliance and tax advisory for superannuation funds, this is an integral role within the organisation. This role is part of the broader Link Group Client Taxation and ATO Reporting team.

Role & responsibilities
• Ensuring the tax business rules with our systems and processes are up to date
• Identify, test and implement regulations and legislative changes impacting our superannuation fund clients
• Drafting and maintaining Link tax policies
• Work on special projects including tendering for prospective client and on-boarding new clients
• Provide tax technical advice to the broader Client Taxation & ATO Reporting team, finance, business units and support units.
• Preparing annual tax returns and coordinating tax payments for super funds
• Preparing and logging activity statements for super funds
• Preparing annual tax provision calculations and tax notes used for the financial statements of super funds
• Preparing quarterly and annual tax provision true-up calculations of super funds at the option level
• Calculating and monitoring the effective tax rates (ETRs) of super funds at the option level
• Maintaining internal tax models which are used to prepare the tax calculations of the super funds
• Attend to ATO queries and audits/reviews of clients including ATO Streamline Assurance Reviews (SAR) and managing ATO relationships in this respect
• Preparing process documentation, process maps, standardising processes to create efficiencies, etc. as required
• To positively contribute to the morale and engagement of the Tax & ATO Reporting team and to exhibit role model behaviours in this respect
• To escalate issue, concerns and opportunities arising from the above to the reporting manager
• Interaction with external tax advisors, clients and other stakeholders
• Support the tax team to roll out training and implementation of tax related changes to the Operation teams
• Involvement in tax related projects that require the candidate to work to deadlines and liaise with internal and external stakeholders

The Ideal Candidate
• 2-3 years of prior tax experience preferred.
• A solid understanding of tax law, superannuation legislation and compliance & regulatory issues
• A background and understanding of tax operations as they apply to superannuation fund desirable
• Previous experience in custody desirable
• Motivated, 'hands-on' person with initiative, an inquisitive mind and a willingness to deal with any number of tasks which need attention
• Good interpersonal and communication skills as a large portion of the role involves interaction with both internal and external parties
• Good problem solving skills
• Ability to work as a part of a team
• High attention to detail
• Able to work with conflicting deadlines
• Competent Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word user and ability to learn new software quickly

CA/CPA qualified/close to completion, and registered tax agent desirable
