The Role
A Business Analyst (BA) is needed to support the Research Lifecycle programme. https://www.rlp.manchester.ac.uk/
The Research Lifecycle Programme is a five-year programme that will support The University of Manchester in meeting its goal of being one of the top 25 research universities in the world, through a series of strategic investments in IT and associated change.
The programme will impact three areas:
The BAs will undertake a number of requirements assessments and related work across a number of the activity streams of the research lifecycle especially people and change projects:
Responsibilities will include:
Specific Role Requirements
Experience in requirements gathering, business process modelling and workshop facilitation are essential.
Key skills and qualifications also include:
Previous experience of working in a Higher Education environment and/or working with HR and people projects would be a distinct advantage.

The Role
A Business Analyst (BA) is needed to support the Research Lifecycle programme. https://www.rlp.manchester.ac.uk/
The Research Lifecycle Programme is a five-year programme that will support The University of Manchester in meeting its goal of being one of the top 25 research universities in the world, through a series of strategic investments in IT and associated change.
The programme will impact three areas:
- e-Research Infrastructure - which is a combination and interworking of digitally-based technology; hardware and software, resources (data, services, digital libraries) communications, and the people and organisational structures needed to support modern, internationally leading collaborative research.
- Research Data Lifecycle - covering the processes and technologies of data creation and deposit, management of active data; publication; data repositories and archives; data catalogues and registries.
- Processes and systems that support the administration of research.
The BAs will undertake a number of requirements assessments and related work across a number of the activity streams of the research lifecycle especially people and change projects:
Responsibilities will include:
- Work with diverse groups of stakeholders to capture and/or review requirements and processes
- Leading workshops as needed to assess/align requirements/processes with platform technologies or planned developments
- Assess potential solutions in the market against the requirements
- Design and support user acceptance testing
- Support implementation and post implementation reviews
Specific Role Requirements
Experience in requirements gathering, business process modelling and workshop facilitation are essential.
Key skills and qualifications also include:
- Ability to work positively with the full range of business, management, supplier and technical individuals and groups involved in the project
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Ability to communicate and influence credibly at all levels
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to adapt and find innovative ways or solving or pre-empting problems, while reinforcing business change in the organisation.
