The Treasury Financial Control - Manager will ensure that the bank maintains a strong and robust financial control environment, appropriately accounts for complex Treasury transactions and ensures the measurement and accounting for financial instruments is in accordance with IFRS.

The role holder will have responsibility, as part of the team, for accounting and reporting financial numbers (month end / year end) in respect of the bank's Treasury and Funding activities, establishing and maintaining strong controls, reconciliation and substantiation over the reported numbers, including involvement in Hedge Accounting processes and documentation. The role holder should have good understanding of, and relevant experience of implementing, technical accounting standards (particularly IFRS9 and IAS39) and Financial Control experience. This should also include experience of working with / interacting with Treasury and Accounting systems (Quantum, QRM, Oracle etc).

The role will involve communication and explanation of monthly reported numbers directly to the Treasury Financial Controller and Head of Funding - Finance, and must therefore be able to describe in simple and straightforward language the requirements and outcomes of technical accounting concepts.

What would your day look like?

Technical business partner to the Funding "front office" teams

Ensure the control environment is maintained and continues to evolve as Aldermore grows
Provide guidance and support on the accounting treatment for funding transactions, including secured funding, articulating the accounting requirements for wider Treasury / Finance teams,
Translate the accounting results into understandable MI to facilitate decision making,
Collaboratively work with Treasury teams to ensure common understanding and best use of common systems, primarily Quantum and QRM, supporting ongoing upgrades / developments.

Financial & Management Accounts

Support the month end reporting process, delivering accurate and timely accounting information produced within a strong and robust control environment
Provide technical support to the Bank's hedge accounting strategy and process / system
Support daily Treasury operations, reviewing derivatives accounting (including FX derivatives)
Provide input to the production of technical accounting papers on Treasury and Savings when required
Produce and / or review the financial control attestations for Treasury and Savings
Ensure integrity of financials from source systems
Gain an understanding of operational processes and advise financial control advancements
Review and update SOPs accordingly

Audit

Assist and provide external auditors with supporting documents/schedules
Assist in providing financial disclosures to group finance

What do we expect of you?

Qualified Accountant (ICAS / ICAEW / ACCA ideally) with 2 years post qualified experience
Good solid experience in Banking and Treasury
Experience in hedge accounting, both portfolio and micro and the application of relevant accounting standards
Good understanding of Treasury and Savings products and ability to assess the impact from regulatory, capital, tax and statutory point of view.
Experienced use of Treasury systems, ideally Quantum and QRM.
Solid understanding of robust controls environment,
Proactive self-starter who can successfully operate in a changing environment
