The role is part of the regulatory reporting team and is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation and submission of regulatory returns and statutory accounts.

Key Duties:
  • To provide support to the Head of Regulatory Reporting
  • To take responsibility for the preparation of regulatory returns and statutory accounts
  • To design and develop robust and repeatable processes to produce the returns for those to be as streamlined as possible
  • To prepare ad-hoc additional returns as and when required
  • To ensure all returns are submitted in a timely manner to the appropriate committees for review and sign-off
  • To liaise with external auditors and ensure returns are signed and submitted to the regulatory bodies
  • To participate in shaping the development of regulatory changes
  • To remain up to date with changes in regulatory reporting regime, and be responsible for the implementation of such changes in the syndicate
  • To inform senior management of the impact of changes and make recommendations for corporate responses to regulatory changes
  • To prepare papers for the EC / subsidiary Boards as required
  • To liaise with other departments and personnel as required, including the Compliance Officer, Operations, Actuarial and other Finance staff and underwriting staff
  • To research any technical issues
  • To maintain procedures manuals for area of responsibility
  • To discharge duties in respect of Financial Controls for the areas of responsibility
  • Involvement in ad hoc projects where necessary

Qualifications required:

  • Qualified accountant preferable (ACA/ACCA or equivalent)

Experience required:

  • Experience within the commercial insurance sector (preferably within the Lloyd's market)
  • Advanced excel and knowledge of word. Experience and knowledge of general ledger systems (e.g. Dynamics GP)
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines, adapt to changing requirements and work within a team
  • Experience in the completion of regulatory returns
  • Experience in the production of syndicate accounts
