Bright Horizons are recruiting for a Payroll Manager to provide the technical payroll knowledge to ensure that the company delivers an accurate payroll to its employees c. 9000 abiding by current legislation.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Deliver accurate and timely payroll of c. 9000 employees
  • Be technically up to date on latest legislation make recommendations for change to ensure the company is compliant
  • Supervise, direct and review the work of the Payroll Administrators
  • Build strong partnerships with HR and Operation functions to ensure the flow of information is timely
  • Responsible for forward planning and development of payroll systems and continuous improvement


Responsible for
  • Responsible and accountable for processing multiple payrolls for approx. 9000 employees (both permanent and bank staff) accurately and on time
  • Supervise direct reports within the Payroll Team to ensure that payments are paid accurately and on time, ensuring timely outcomes to queries
  • Managing relationships with the HR Workday team regarding all activities which impact pay, ensuring robust processes and assurance of data with the workflow
  • Managing relationships with the Brightpay team regarding all activities which impact pay, ensuring robust processes are assurance of data with the workflow
  • Managing relationship with third party system provider to ensure the system is updated and operating as expected
  • Forward planning and development of payroll systems to ensure changes in business activities , taxation and other regulatory requirements
  • Representing Payroll on projects affecting pay, owning issues and driving continual improvement programmes
  • Assume Payroll Project Lead for acquisitions, creating plans which deliver integration solutions which minimise operator impact.
  • Checking and auditing of all payrolls, ensuring appropriate approvals and controls are in place to comply with SOX requirements
  • Providing technical guidance to support team members and UK operators on all payroll matters
  • Administering and reconciling all statutory payments/deductions
  • Issuing of accurate and appropriate tax forms such as P45's, P60's and P11d's
  • Calculation of the payment and reconciliation of payroll tax and group tax
  • Accurate setting up of all new starters and the processing of all leavers via the payroll system ensuring calculation of termination payments
  • Overseeing appropriate pension contributions, including taking lead role in administering Auto Enrolment/Salary sacrifice arrangements
  • Preparation of ad hoc reports as required
  • Performing payroll balance sheet reconciliations and reviews


Essential Experience
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of complex payroll functions and systems
  • Up to date with payroll legislation
  • Demonstrated payroll management experience
  • Demonstrated experience of managing pension schemes including knowledge of the requirements of Auto Enrolment
  • Strong technical knowledge and proficient with MS Office Applications
  • System oriented with experience of Global View (ADP payroll system)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with focus on customer service and able to show empathy
  • Thorough approach with an eye for detail
  • Strong analytical numeracy skills with a bias for problem solving
  • Strong partnership with both internal and external contacts including HMRC
  • Understanding of confidentiality
  • Used to working under pressure and in a fast paced environment
  • Experience in reconciling balance sheet accounts


Experience Desirable
  • Knowledge of People Soft
  • Knowledge of ADP GlobalView and Cyberaid TeamTrak


Qualifications
  • IPP qualified
  • 5 GCSE including Maths and English
