Airswift is seeking applicants for the role of Assistant Accountant (Financial Accounts) to join their office in Manchester.

Group Financial Accountant

Role Description

Based in our Manchester office, you will work alongside the group finance team, supporting the Group Financial Accountant. Your primary focus will be a variety of group accounting tasks; inclusive of reconciliations as well as preparation of regulatory filings and returns for the group and its subsidiaries. The role is a busy and fully encompassing position.

You will have previous experience of working with accounting systems and performing reconciliations and month end close. A proactive attitude, the ability to work to tight deadlines, managing different stakeholders and adapting where necessary is a must for this role.

Alongside your accountant duties, a key part of this role is to support the Group Financial Accountant on any projects such as preparation of data for tenders.

Key Accountabilities

  • Complete VAT reconciliations and prepare filings
  • Preparation of UK statutory accounts
  • Preparation of monthly non trader company accounts
  • Assist with preparation of taxation returns
  • Assist auditors with providing information or responding to queries
  • Preparation of group intercompany reconciliations
  • Preparation of ONS returns
  • Manage General Ledger structure
  • Assisting the Group Financial Accountant with review and improvement of current systems and processes
  • Assist Group Financial Accountant with a variety of tasks, including collation of data for bids/tenders and group compliance

Person Specification

  • Suitable for an unqualified Accountant looking for experience in a group finance function of a large multinational business (50+ countries)
  • No knowledge of the industry required
  • Must have intermediate/advanced knowledge of MS Excel
  • Experience of working with an accounting system is ideal
  • A good understanding of basic bookkeeping principals is desirable
  • Strong communication skills to build relationship with stakeholders
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize their time to meet the demands of a high-pressured workload
  • Self-motivated and flexible to working in a deadline-focused environment
  • Attention to detail ensuring delivery of accurate reporting
