The National Technical Director of Insurance is responsible for all industry–related assurance matters including accounting, auditing, independence, and risk management. This position has ownership of the Firm's insurance industry manuals, templates, tools and training. Responsibilities of this position also include supporting the National Office of Risk Management in all insurance related inspection matters, including PCAOB, peer review, and internal inspections. Finally, this position has oversight of client acceptance and continuance of assurance engagements for all insurance entities including insurance intermediaries (e.g., brokers, agents and third party administrators), and captives. We are open to any location in the U.S. for this role. Responsibilities Include: Quality (a responsibility that is pervasive through all responsibilities)Work with the Chief Auditor, and audit and accounting policy teams as it relates to changes in work products, tools, templates and processes that will improve efficiencies and effectiveness of the auditDrive the process to develop, support and maintain the Firm's Insurance Manuals and guidance with timely delivery to the field for implementationWork closely with the National Office of Risk Management on internal, peer review and PCAOB inspections and written responses as applicable. This includes participation in on–site inspections as well as providing assistance to engagement teams in the remediation processRisk ManagementProvide support to the National Office of Risk management as it relates to the CLEAR tools for insurance auditsReview and concur on insurance client acceptance and continuance decisions as may be required by our risk management policiesAssist engagement leaders with regulator examinations and inquiries, including SEC and state regulatorsMay participate as a member or Chair of the Insurance Client Acceptance and Reevaluation Committee (ICAR)Oversight of The List designations in insurance industry for audit personnelLiaise with National Insurance Leader on people resources – pipeline, capacity assessments, how to bring new people into industry, etc. to enhance capacity within the insurance industryContinuing Professional EducationOversee the curriculum plan for insurance auditorsOversee and participate in the development and delivery of insurance courses including training for auditors at the staff through partner levelsParticipate in the development and delivery of non–technical insurance training at the request of the National Industry Leader for Financial ServicesClient ServiceConsult with partners and engagement teams as requested on complex insurance services–related audit, accounting, and independence–related mattersMeet with key clients and prospects as necessary to assist engagement teams and deliver expertisePerform industry–related consultations on a timely basisMay participate in audit engagements as an engagement quality reviewerConduct industry webcasts for clients and prospects as needed, including development and delivery Qualifications: Bachelors degreeCertified Public AccountantStrong working knowledge of US GAAP and statutory accounting standards affecting the financial services industryStrong working knowledge of Generally Accepted U.S. and PCAOB Auditing StandardsMinimum of 10+ years' experience performing audits in the insurance industryMinimum of 10+ years' experience in the assurance practice of a national CPA firmMinimum of 3 years' experience as a partnerMinimum of 5 years' experience in managing othersMust exhibit an exceptional client service attitude, possess outstanding people skills and take a proactive approach in working with employeesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsDemonstrated excellent coordination, organizational planning and analytical skillsTakes ownership of resultsAbility to prioritize and manage multiple projects/assignments simultaneously You want your next step to be the right one.
