The successful candidate will be strategic in thinking, analytical in approach, and have a demonstrated ability to influence the decisions of executives through effective communication, financial analyses, logical reasoning, and the creation of alternatives. Additionally, the candidate will drive operational controllership and develop new mechanisms to drive scale, automation and efficiencies. This position will report to the Finance Director of FP Qualified individual will be responsible for leading the budget, reporting, and rolling forecast process. The candidate will also provide financial support to projects within the Finance Department as well as other business partners.Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Support the Director of FP with the financial planning & analysis activities for Novavax Inc., including the creation of annual budgets, reforecasts, monthly and quarterly reporting of financial results for management and investors, and department heads Generate, maintain, and automate financial and operational reporting for various internal and external stakeholdersPartners with the research departments to manage the project control processes, policies and systems including project budgeting, monitoring, reporting and controlHelp develop and monitor critical success metrics, and communicate actionable insights to relevant stakeholders Design and execute regular financial analysis to identify critical areas for attention and the evaluation of strategic optionMaintain the Company's financial model and unit economics for presentation to internal stakeholders, the Board, and investorsWork to develop new internal dashboards to automate enhance reporting Work with the Director of FP to create and manage the annual budgeting process and long–term strategic financial planningCollaborate with the Accounting team on monthly close process, financial reporting, and preparation of GAAP financial statements.Work with the Director of FP and Accounting to define and implement best practices for financial management and reporting across the Company.Utilize understanding of budgets and forecasts to create high quality variance and trend analysis on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basisProvide creative alternatives and recommendations to improve business and financial performanceReview prepared high quality sponsors' reports and ensure compliance with the sponsors' policy and regulationsLiaison with various organizations and partner with functional leads to create plans and forecasts, understanding/evaluating key functional driversMinimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree, preferably with a focus on finance, accounting, economics, or with relevant coursework in these disciplines4–8 years professional experience4+ years of finance experience, including FP experienceKnowledge of Sage and Adaptive Insights a plusStrong understanding of corporate finance concepts and accounting principlesSuperb organizational skills and experience leading projectsRobust financial and operational modeling experience with understanding of modeling best practices (e.g., dynamic models with case functionality, user–friendly models with clear labeling of assumptions/data sources)Experience developing reporting packages (Excel and PPT), preferably at a growth–stage or middle market companyHistory of successfully leading business case analysis and planning processes which set strategy through a financial lens, then tracking the plan to report on its progress over timeStrong communication skills (both written and verbal)Bachelor's degree in Accounting or FinanceStrong analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skillsBiotechnology or Pharmaceutical experience a plusExperience with financial systems/applications, proficiency in Excel skills in data compilation and aggregation, including pivot tables, v–lookup, and macrosExperience with project accounting and sponsor's reporting a plusKeen attention to accuracy and detail while under tight deadlinesNovavax, Inc. is headquartered in Gaithersburg, Maryland with additional facilities in Uppsala, Sweden.
