GENERAL SUMMARY/Working under the general direction of the ExecutiveDirector of the Combined Professional Billing Office (CPBO), the FinancialAnalyst will work closely with the organization's leaders to ensure that the CPBO'srevenue and expenses are in line with targets; the candidate will also beresponsible for tracking, researching and explaining budget variances. Theideal candidate will serve as a business liaison between the CPBO, the MGPO andBWPO Finance teams, and Partners Health Care Finance/Accounting. The Combined Professional Billing Office is thecentral billing office for physician practices affiliated with MassachusettsGeneral Brigham in Boston, Massachusetts.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Relevant activities include, but are notlimited to the following: • Workingwith key leaders, formulate, prepare, and enter the annual expense budget andforecasts on a modified cash–basis level • Analyzeproposed and ongoing operating requests; coordinate questions for discussion • Provideall financial management and support to CPBO departments, its cost centers andprograms. This would include journalentry preparation and submission, facilitating transaction processing in PeopleSoft,etc. • Monthlyreview, analysis, follow–up, and (where required) reconciliation of all costcenters, including FTE analysis, revenue and cost drivers and deviations fromexpectations, monetary transfers among departments and entities, and any otherrelevant analyses. • Produceperiodic PowerPoint presentations for a wide audience that conveys financialresults in a well–formatted, clear, and compelling manner. • Participatein development of business/financial case/models for specific initiatives and awide variety of special projects; assist in the evaluation of new businessopportunities• Liaisewith other departments across MGB to ensure financial objectives are met andvariances explained• Participatein monthly close activates, compile the journal entries at month– and year–end,and communicate with various departments and entities to ensure completenessand accuracy• Assistin cost preparation and management for any real estate or capital projects• Buildand maintain a tracking tool to manage the CPBO's equipment inventory (laptops,docking stations, desktops, jabber headsets, printers, etc)• Documentthe workflows associated with critical monthly tasks; the candidate andExecutive Director will mutually agree upon these• Otherduties and ad–hoc analysis as requiredQualificationsSKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: • Demonstratetheir effectiveness in working in complex and dynamic environments and withcomplex systems• Facilitatesuccessful communication with all levels of administrative staff and the abilityto work with said individuals• Motivatedself–starter with an extreme attention to detail and data accuracy• Willingand able to take initiative in all areas • Analyticalaptitude, with the ability to create/extract/manipulate/analyze financial andoperational data• Abilityto manage several projects simultaneously.• Financialand operational modeling skills. • Abilityto work with and learn multiple financial and reporting systems• Excellentcommunication and presentation skills both written and verbal with abilityadjust to audience• Abilityto build collaboration across the organization• Intermediateexpertise with Excel and PowerPoint required• Knowledgeof People Soft and/or Hyperion preferredLICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or REGISTRATIONS: Bachelor'sdegree required.Equivalentbusiness experience, particularly in a non–profit healthcare setting, will beconsideredEXPERIENCE: • 1–3years of progressive financial and operational planning and analysisexperience, ideally in a Healthcare setting required.• 3–5years of experience in a hospital setting or within the healthcare industrystrongly preferred• Activeinvolvement in professional revenue cycle associations preferredFISCAL RESPONSIBILITY: • Financialanalysis, budgeting, planning, and reporting for a $2+ billion organizationWORKING CONDITIONS: • TheCPBO Professional Billing Office has multiple locations with its primary officelocated in the Charlestown Navy Yard campus.• Thehours are usually Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM but vary accordingto the demands on this exempt salaried position.• Thework environment is very busy and dynamic.• Staffis collaborative and work together to solve specific, payer–related billing andclinical practice issues.• Thereare often multiple conversations occurring at the same time – the staff needsto be able to handle an environment that is not quiet.• Theemployee is required to travel to any MGB facilities to attend off–sitemeetings.
