Position Summary

The lead accountant will partner with the shared service accounting team to ensure excellence in core ledger responsibilities, journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. The subject matter is centered on accounting and forecasting for corporate functions, people costs including equity compensation and treasury. The lead accountant coordinates with CDK's external auditors, tax department, consolidations group, and technical accounting team to apply accounting policy and generate superior quality analysis. Reporting to the Director of Accounting and Consolidations, this role mentors, guides and reviews the work product of the local and shared service accounting teams. The lead accountant is a change agent continuously enhancing process and improving the control environment.

Position Responsibilities & Essential functions
  • Monthly accounting close
  • Partner with the shared service accounting team to ensure timely and accurate recording and reporting of the general ledger
  • Support and provide monthly analysis to business partners
  • Review complex account reconciliations and perform balance sheet analysis
  • Review reconciliations performed by the shared service accounting team to certify compliance with accounting policy
  • Provide detailed analysis of balance sheet fluctuations and trends
  • Develop schedules and insights for planning and external reporting
  • Establish, modify, document and coordinate the implementation of accounting and control procedures and efficiencies as necessary to meet established company goals
  • Coordinate audit requests for external and internal auditors
  • Develop, document, and apply accounting policies and procedures
  • Forecasting, including complex modeling and interactions with senior management to collect business data elements and convey results of "what-if" analysis
  • Support internal and external reporting processes
  • Special projects as assigned

Qualifications & Job Requirements
  • Strong data analysis and Excel modeling skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong technical accounting skills (USGAAP), particularly in post-employment benefits, equity compensation and public company reporting
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting
  • CPA or CPA candidate, preferred but not required
  • 5+ years experience in public (Big 4 or regional firm) or corporate accounting
  • Supervisory experience preferred

  • Oracle EBS and Blackline experience preferred
