Reporting to the Manager of Accounting Operations, the Accountant will be responsible for a variety of accounting functions. Some of the main responsibilities include all functions for accounts payable, processing bi-weekly payroll, assisting in preparation of required internal and external financial reporting and budgets.

Essential Functions:

  • Following the Standard Principles of Financial Accounting, maintains with confidentiality, the systems and files which support the functions of the General Accounting Department.

  • Complete all functions for accounts payable, including getting proper approval signatures on invoices, entering the invoices into the system and once checks are printed making sure the proper signatures are obtained

  • Manage Secure pay files for AP check run.

  • Complete all functions related to processing Payroll bi-weekly for approximately 250 employees including submitting ACH Fraud Control numbers

  • Obtain W9's for all new vendors and enter them into the accounts payable system

  • Prepare and enter specific entries at month end

  • Create and run 1099's and review W2's at the end of the year.

  • Process billing for Commercial Services and for DPI services.

  • Assist in the preparation of required internal and external financial reports, internal audits, cost analysis, budgets, and related financial statements.

  • Open Mail and separate checks and invoices

  • Organizes work, taking into consideration the timetables and deadlines related to payroll, federal, state, audit, funding source and organization requirements.

  • Prepare monthly state sales tax report.

Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or related field.

  • At least one year of experience in a related role is preferred.

  • Experience in payroll and FLSA regulations along with a full understanding of GAAP.

  • Experience with personal computers and accounts payable systems. Requires a moderate degree of proficiency in data entry skills (40 wpm), and basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Good communication skills, strong organizational ability, and the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with persons served, staff, referral and funding sources and other customers.
