As the Director of Cost Accounting you will direct a collaborative effort in building pricing and financial controls and compliance systems in a very fast paced manufacturing environment. You will also be tasked with developing future talent for opportunities within the corporate structure. Position reports to the Vice President of Finance.   • This position will provide technical guidance and ensure consistent application of cost accounting principles across the corporation
  • Lead the strategic direction of the Cost Accounting Department
  • Manage and maintain the standard cost system within the ERP software, including routings, hierarchy, standard cost estimates, cost runs and overhead distribution, and valuations involving materials, labor, and machine time
  • Lead the preparation of customer price quotations in collaboration with various departments within the corporation, including business development, packaging engineering, purchasing and procurement, and operations
  • Hire, mentor, train, and develop cost and inventory accounting staff members
  • Develop robust processes to drive productivity within the cost function
  • Identify and drive process improvement initiatives within facilities and corporate-wide
  • Maintain product markets and pricing
  • Oversee inventory usage of packaging components and raw material, utilization of labor and machine time, and related variance analysis
  • Manage and perform margin and profitability analysis for use in the evaluation of financial results and product portfolio
  • Lead the monthly close process for cost accounting tasks
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Controller in preparation of the annual budget
  • Assist the finance and business development functions with inquiries and analysis related to cost and profitability

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance, preferably with CMA or CPA certification
  • 10+ years of direct experience in accounting, reporting, and costing leadership within a manufacturing setting preferred
  • Advanced analytical skills with experience preparing meaningful and accurate cost and margin related schedules
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • High-level math skills and the ability to translate mathematical information into concise reports

Job Requirements:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products, particularly Excel
  • Experience in working in ERP systems, SAP preferred
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical skills, and organization skills
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills in relating with co-workers and company management at all levels
  • Self-reliant, problem solver, and results oriented
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Ability to prioritize and efficiently handle multiple tasks within deadlines
