They've partnered with an esteemed organization in the Non-Profit industry to find an experienced Staff Accountant for their team. In this position, the Staff Accountant prepares journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. You'll also be responsible for various aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You will also participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and look over schedules for the reporting processes. A highly involved position, it works to produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Based in the St Petersburg, Florida area, this company is offering a long-term temporary opportunity that's sure to challenge as well as reward effort.

Major responsibilities

- Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules

- Take part the in implementation and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP

- Participate in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

- Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments

- Take part in various department-wide initiatives

- Create monthly statement analysis to be used for management reportings

- Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

- Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner

- Carry out month end close, journal entries, without supervision

- Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

Requirements

- Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

- Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines

- Current and relevant ERP system experience

- Non-profit fund accounting experience preferred

- Microsoft Excel experience

- Grant accounting experience

- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

- Detailed and have the ability work independently

- Excellent analytical, quantitative and social skills

- Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

- Recent and relevant accounting experience

- Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision

- Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

- Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
