Job Summary
The Associate Financial Analyst provides the divisional operating and finance teams with support and insight into business performance. This individual will build his/her knowledge base on the banking industry and the balance sheet / income statement, upload financial information / key drivers, analyze trends in the industry / segment, and research variances / drivers in the operations. This individual will also assist with financial modeling and work with the more experienced analysts in the divisional finance team in order to help develop, enhance, maintain and automate (where applicable) financial models using MS Excel and Oracle Business Intelligence. The analyst will also assist in the analysis and reporting of key business drivers and results including underlying volume information, sales trends, product profitability, customer profitability, third party reporting and other ad hoc reporting.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Maintain regularly scheduled reports for the business units and ensure information is accurate / distributed on time. This includes populating reports with various software tools including MS Excel, Hyperion, and Oracle Business Intelligence.
  • Assist with divisional forecasts and assumptions to keep management updated on current trends.
  • Analysis of current key business drivers and comparing to desired thresholds or market data.
  • Support divisional operations by assisting with ad hoc requests of the business.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Completes all required compliance training. Maintains knowledge of and adhere to Flagstars internal compliance policies and procedures. Takes responsibility to keep up to date with changing regulations and policies.


Job Requirements :
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or Business Administration preferred.
  • CPA is a plus.
  • 0-2 years of related experience is required.
  • Bachelors degree required OR must be obtaining Bachelors degree within 1 year of start date.
  • Strong analytical capabilities.
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Basic knowledge of databases (Oracle/Access).
  • Strong communication skills " both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work in close coordination with key finance personnel to drive results.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
  • Willingness to learn and ability to be coached.
  • Team player in a dynamic work environment.
