As the Chief Financial Officer, essential responsibilities include:

  • Create, coordinate, and evaluate the financial programs and supporting information systems of the company to include budgeting, tax planning, real estate, and conservation of assets.

  • Approve and coordinate changes and improvements in automated financial and management information systems for the company.

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements.

  • Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and information reports.

  • Develop and implement finance, accounting, billing, and purchasing procedures.

  • Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards.

  • Ensure records systems are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

  • Analyze profitability, cost controls, and expenses to guide business leaders. Analyze financial statements to pinpoint potential weak areas.

  • Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.

  • Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.

  • Analyze and evaluate market, demographics and financial information for merger/acquisition candidates. Prepare required application to complete mergers or acquisitions.

  • Develop and direct the implementation of strategic business and/or operational plans, projects, programs, and systems.

  • Monitor tax position of STAR Financial Group. Communicate with tax firm on major changes in tax laws, communicating with banks on changes that affect them.

  • Serve on Executive, Strategic Planning, IT Steering, and 401-k Investment and Nevada Sub S Committees, along with other committees and task forces as needed.

  • Represent the company externally to government agencies, funding partners, and media with regard to financial matters of the Company.

  • Participate in various professional and civic organizations.

Skills Needed

  • Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, including GAAP.

  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.

  • Knowledge and experience overseeing automated financial and accounting reporting systems.

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state financial and tax regulations.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Able to communicate effectively across all organizational levels.

  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and produce quality results within tight deadlines.

  • Experience developing strategic plans and execution of plans.
