Renaissance Life & Health is seeking a Sr. Manager to join our Accounting Operations team here in Indianapolis, IN!

The Sr. Manager, Accounting Operations manages the daily operations and strategic objectives for accounts receivable/accounts payable and the billing cycles. Partners with the Accounting & Financial Reporting team on specific areas of the close process such as Fixed Assets, reporting and GL reconciliations.

What will this role entail?
  • Assists in developing short and long term strategies, goals, and objectives for the accounting operations area, specifically related to the accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing and collections cycles.
  • Communicates and collaborates with cross-functional teams regarding accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, and collections systems and processes, including client and new business implementation.
  • Manages, schedules, plans, and coordinates staff assignments regarding accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, and collections. Hires, trains, mentors, and evaluates staff in order to meet departmental and corporate goals and objectives.
  • Manages process for routine reporting of disability tax withholding information to policyholders, quarterly and annual tax filings, and preparation of related annual tax forms.
  • Owns the monthly A/R and A/P close processes to support balances within the general ledger and proper recording and applications of cash receipts and disbursements.
  • Works closely with the Director, Accounting & Financial Reporting to ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting transactions and to support the month end close processes.
  • Establishes work standards, develops performance metrics, and enforces objectives, policies, procedures, and guidelines for the area of accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing and collections.
  • Reviews and analyzes accounts receivable aging reports to assure proper collection of invoices due, ensures self-bill groups maintain proper variance percentages, and the approval of debit/credit memos or retro-terms affecting a client's account.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as needed or assigned.
What must I possess to qualify?
  • Position requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
  • Eight years' experience in accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, and collections with at least three to five years' leadership experience. Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience.
  • Position requires the ability to problem-solve financial and accounting systems issues; knowledge of accounting principles and theories on a GAAP basis.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to treat confidential information with sensitivity; use of independent judgment.
  • Possess strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to multi-task in order to maintain responsibilities to manage Finance staff.
  • Should be well-versed in accounting software, PeopleSoft experience a plus.
