The company offering this terrific long-term temporary opportunity is based in the Reading, Pennsylvania region and provides rewards for hard work. The Staff Accountant plays a major role in the preparation of monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. Be prepared to dedicate a fair amount of time to producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, you'll also be charged with various aspects of internal reporting. In addition, you will take part in compliance, communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes.

Major responsibilities

- Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

- Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

- Report on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner

- Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting

- Participate in various initiatives spanning multiple departments

- Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments

- Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed

- Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision

- Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

- Support capital lease and monthly payment schedules

Requirements

- Less than one year of experience preferred

- Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

- Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks

- Spreadsheet and database capabilities

- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

- Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision

- Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

- Deep understanding of Bank Deposit

- Payroll experience preferred

- General ledger experience desired

- Accounts Payable (AP) experience preferred

- Experience with Financial Statement

- Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus

- experienced organizational, written and verbal communication skills

- Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions

- Experience with ERP systems
