Job Summary

Assists the Controller in directing the accounting functions for the company's manufacturing division. These functions include establishing and maintaining the organization's accounting principles, practices, and procedures, overseeing the preparation and evaluation of financial statements, budgets, and other financial operating reports, and analyzing product costs and gross margins.

Duties and Responsibilities

Accounting Functions

Time Allocation: 75%

• Produces monthly financials for review by Controller and CFO.

• Perform cost accounting functions including determining and reporting accurate product costs, and monthly cost of goods sold.

• Assists in the analysis of customer profitability, operating results and various management reports.

• Responsible for month end closing procedures, journal entries, maintaining asset registers and depreciation schedules, and other items for preparation of the monthly financial reports, in collaboration with OCI accounting team as needed.

• Work with OCI accounting to ensure that all invoices and payables are recorded accurately and timely.

• Manages the reconciliation of customer accruals and short pays.

• Manages the determination of sales tax reporting and payments for online sales.

• Identifies and recommends process improvements resulting in improved processes and controls and cost reductions.

• Assists Controller in the preparation of schedules for annual audit

• Coordinates and prepares the annual operating and sales budget, and periodic forecasts.

• Produces other financial operating and management reports and analysis as requested.

Other Functions

Time Allocation: 25%

• Special project work as requested by the Controller, Asst. Controller, and CFO.

• Work with operations, sales, and customer service to identify process improvement opportunities and provide analysis and reporting as needed.

• Assists in the preparation and filing of various reports as required by federal, state, and local property, sales and income tax authorities.

• Coordinate the accounting integration for acquisitions and new products/categories.

• Other tasks and duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements


3 - 5 years' experience in a manufacturing cost accounting environment required.

• Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel and accounting packages required; experience with Great Plains preferred.

• Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting preferred.

• Demonstrated ability in creative problem solving with a history of initiating and implementing solutions.

• Ability to communicate effectively with managers and co-workers in a team-oriented work environment.

• Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize activities.

• Ability to be self-starter and can work independently to solve problems.


• Required work schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

• Limited travel to manufacturing plant
